“#MyBoss” by Scrambled

My boss and I have a pretty relaxed relationship. When I first started my internship, I knew beforehand that I was going to share the office with my boss which is weird and discomforting, but I braced myself against whatever will come.

Upon entering, I placed my stuff on my side of the desk, directly facing him, the exact same placement as my interview with him a week earlier. When I first met him he seemed pretty chill. Nevertheless, I still had my reservations about how I should act and behave. I was still the new kid after all. I found out pretty quickly, however, that my boss didn’t really care when I came in, when I left, when I had my lunch, and how long I was gone for. He did care that at the end of the day I presented whatever work he assigned for me. And I did. I just took my time with it sometimes. I know this makes me sound like a potentially bad employee, but really the office environment just begs for me to be like that. I was pretty uptight myself when I first started. I asked permission for most things, but really, my boss reassured me that I didn’t have to.

My boss and I would just sit in the office, and then he would plug his speakers to his laptop and listen to music loudly. Then, the next day it was my turn, and so on and so forth. You can probably tell by now how laid back my boss is. He’s pretty open about his opinions on certain things and he likes to announce them too. He’s always amusing to listen to especially when he goes into one of his rants or stories.

I guess I’m glad I ended up having him as a boss. In a way, I find that it suits me. We have a lot in common so the conversation flows nicely during the occasions we do talk. I suppose I may not have enjoyed my internship thus far had my boss been any different. The things he says, the chillness of the atmosphere makes it easy for me to feel comfortable enough to enjoy THAT particular aspect of my internship.
